Hello, my name is Leonie, and I first trained and qualified in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage (ITEC) in 2001, however, after discovering from a colleague on the course about how amazing Reflexology is, I was inspired and committed to study and become the passionate Reflexologist I am today. On my path of study to date, I achieved a Complementary Therapies BSc Hons (2:1) at Greenwich University to gain a deeper insight to the many Complementary therapies available which support our health naturally and how it can be integrated alongside orthodox healthcare. I love my job, and when hearing and seeing the benefits a Reflexology session/s has given my clients, along with the feedback including – of deep relaxation, tension released for improved movement, less stress, clarity and being able to focus, lesser headaches, to conception and more makes me feel very grateful and proud to be a Reflexologist!
I am also a Reiki practitioner, which started when a client was receiving a reflexology session and after asked for a Reiki session. Explaining I was not a Reiki practitioner, she looked at me in disbelief and explained the colours and feelings she experienced as if she was having a Reiki session. This then led me on my journey to learn more and get qualified to incorporate Reiki into my practice. I have personally found this to be not only a good experience on its own, but also if needed to add that little extra to an extended 90 min session of Reflexology.
I am a Full member of the Association of Reflexologists – Membership No. 10908 and as a professional Reflexologist, I continue to expand my knowledge and practice by learning with Continued Professional Development, which includes reading and research, attending workshops and seminars, also studying and qualifying in other Reflexology related therapies within my practice – which are briefly described below.
Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient and non-invasive touch therapy, based on a theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body. By applying gentle pressure along with specialised techniques using the thumb, finger or knuckles, working these points and areas can be an effective way to help release imbalances and tension within the body, helping your body back to its natural balance, to aid relaxation and wellbeing.
Facial Reflexology – has all the benefits of having a relaxing foot reflexology session, only this time using reflex points on the face and the bonus here is, after cleansing and treatment, it finishes with a short relaxing facial massage to help detox, tone and give a little lift too which can be extended in a 90 mins session. Facial Reflexology is a good alternative for those with ticklish feet 🙂
